What does Equal Health do?

Equal helps employers easily set up and manage subscription primary care for their employees and their employees' families.

We work with independent clinics that offer, hands down, the highest quality primary care I've ever seen. I'm a patient of one of these clinics myself. Equal takes on all the complexity of working with multiple independent clinics so that employers can simply plug in and give employees and their families transformative primary care.

How'd you get started?

I've been working in healthcare for over a decade. When I was a hospital administrator for Tenet Health, one of the biggest hospital systems in the country, and chief of staff to the CEO at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, I worked on new care delivery models.

But I realized, despite efficacy, there was no incentive to scale new models. They wouldn't get the oxygen they needed. So, I started looking outside of the existing healthcare system. That's when I discovered subscription-based primary care.

I also knew that for businesses, rising healthcare costs were quickly becoming untenable. As I started talking to benefits advisors and brokers, I kept hearing: "I've been waiting years for you guys." That's when I knew we were on to something.

Why Undefined?

I’d spent the last 10 years in hospital administration on the executive track. I didn’t know where to start.

I can go toe-to-toe with anyone on healthcare, but when it came to tech startups, I wasn't as confident. And, as I soon learned, I needed help to revisit everything I assumed to be true about talking to customers, moving quickly, and getting Equal off the ground.

The team at Undefined helped with customer discovery, brand identity, product design and development, built the sales process with me, helped me raise my pre-seed, and truly acted like co-founders every step of the way. I knew I wasn't alone and even as I build my team, I know they have my back.
